Sands by the Sea Policies
- Refund Policy: Reservations need to be cancelled at least 14 calendar days prior to the scheduled arrival date. We keep 5% of your refund for credit card processing fees. If a reservation is cancelled after the 14 day cancellation window, then any and all deposits are completely nonrefundable. Please plan accordingly because, as a seasonal business, no exceptions can be made. SUITES AND COTTAGES are completely nonrefundable and there is no cancellation window for these units.
- Shortening of Stays: 14 days notice required for any changes granted for an existing reservation and only with a manager’s authorization. Shortening of a stay will not be permitted during certain periods. Cottages and Suites never allow a shortening of a reservation.
- Tax & Handling: Above prices and rates do not include a 9% Maine Lodging Tax and daily handling charge of $2.50.
- Room Occupancy: The number of people allowed in each room go as follows: 2 Double Beds – 2 adults and 2 children. 2 Double beds w/ Sofa – 2 adults and 3 children. A King Room – 2 adults and 1 child. All the different suites, cottages and luxury condo occupancies are listed within these units descriptions on the rates page. Any additional persons checking in above the allowed occupancy will be charged at $20 for an adult and $10 for a child. A child is considered 13 years of age or younger and children that are 3 years old or younger are free. An adult is considered 14 years of age and older.
- Deposits: All reservations require an advance deposit of 50% made by personal check, credit card or money order. at the time of booking. Any 1-night reservations that are accepted are to be paid in full at the time of booking. Room balances are due upon arrival. All weekly reservations in a suite, cottage or luxury condo must be paid in full no later than May 1st.
- Credit Cards & Accepted Payments: We accept Visa, Master Card, American Express and Discover. No personal checks accepted at or near check-in time. All deposit checks, money orders or cashiers checks are to be made out to “Sands by the Sea Motel” and if sending a check payment by mail, we need to receive that payment within 4 business days of booking date or the reservation will automatically be cancelled.
- Weekly Suites and Cottages: these units are only available by the week from a Saturday to Saturday during the main season. ***Some exceptions made – please inquire
- Discounts and Sand Dollar Specials: Both Friday & Saturday must be booked together to receive the “weekend special” discount. The “Sand Dollar Special” must be mentioned at the time of booking in order to receive the discount. No unrequested discounts will be authorized 24 hours after the initial booking date. All discounts are subject to change without notice but once a discount is applied to a reservation it cannot be removed. Once a rate is established in a reservation, there will be no changes made to that rate.
- Rates: All rates are subject to change without notice and will be slightly higher during prime periods. Check the brochure or our website for the correct rates and dates. We will always match or beat any on-line booking rates.
